We leave London early this morning for Stansted Airport (nearly 2 hours out of town!) to start our trip. We're flying a chartered plane that lets us fly direct to each out-of-the-way spot -- quite convenient.
Debb settles in for our four+ hour flight ...
... to Tbilisi, the capital of the Republic of Georgia. This country is nestled in the Caucasus Mountains between the Black & Caspian Seas. Just south of Russia, just north of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Georgia has about 5 million people, of which 1.3 million live in Tbilisi. This is the first former Soviet Republic we've ever been to!
We land in the early evening. It's a bit rainy and cool. We pass by the Georgian Parliament on the way to the hotel.
And, weirdly enough, we pass by President George W. Bush Street! I wasn't expecting that.
Looking forward to an early evening, then a full day of sightseeing tomorrow.
