Debb tells me we've been traveling for 17 hours, but we're finally in Venice! Water taxi from the airport to the hotel, check in, then wander the canals and alleyways to get our bearings. There seems to be a trattoria on every block, with lots of cheap but good wine and food. We finally stop at a place in a larger plaza and order a liter (!) of prosecco and two huge pizzas ... and devoured just about all of it!
Followed by the obligatory post-dinner gelato. Indescribably good!
